The Body Shapes without Clever NamesWritten by d'Italia
This continuation of the short series in body shape types culminates in three more body shapes types that are common for women across the world, but these aren’t blessed with clever names like “banana” or “inverted triangle” to help you remember them.
Athletic If you think the athletic body type is only for athletes, you’re not exactly right. Athletic bodies are simply those with few curves and firmer tones, often meaning a tight, slim, compact look. Remember, this isn’t about stereotypes, it’s about shape comparisons. Consider tennis’s Williams sisters; while astoundingly athletic in stature and practice, few would characterize their body types as “athletic.” Petit Petites aren’t just skinny; they’re genuinely small. Petit body bodies are generally on the short side and have dimensions that are generally small all around. Of course this type can extend to some other body type attributes, though, as all petites aren’t necessarily as small in the hips and bust as they are in the tummy. Slender Similar to the “banana” shape, slender women are about the same size throughout their midsections. The difference is this necessarily means that they are also slim/small throughout them, though not necessarily compact to the point of petit or athletic.
