Staff Picks: Best Dressed - Met Gala 2014Written by d'Italia
Our top 10 favourites from this year's Met Gala red carpet - there were some incredible gowns to choose from!
Sarah Jessica Parker's show-stopping gown brought glamour to the red carpet. The black and white piece is a custom Oscar de la Renta design, with a signature on the dramatic train. Parker's hair was in an amazing up-do, with flower accents, so the jewellery was kept minimal with simple earrings and no necklace. The look was finished with an elegant pair of white gloves. Amber Heard wore an embroidered, glittering piece by Giambattista Valli. The long-sleeved gown was paired with Fred Leighton jewellery and a red nail and lip combination, to stand out against the nude shade of the dress. Once again, the actress had her hair in a classy up-do. Karolina Kurkova wore an amazing piece by Marchesa. The supermodel's strapless gown had an incredible structure to it and the satin-organza fabric was covered in a floral print. Kurkova's statement necklace was a great finish to the dress, and her hair was in a slick and simple up-do. Gisele Bundchen chose a form fitting Balenciaga gown with a plunging neckline. The fabric is a combination of black silk and velvet guipure-lace. The model's natural beauty was highlighted with minimal make up and tousled beach wave hair, and emerald drop earrings that accentuated her eye colour. Emmy Rossum's yellow Carolina Herrera ball gown was a bold choice - covered in a bright, vintage floral pattern. The strapless dress has a subtle sweetheart neckline and train that brings extra drama to the piece. Dita von Teese wore a stunning Zac Posen gown that fits with her signature vintage style. The pale mermaid silhouette dress has bold red accents - which were echoed in the star's choice of classic red lips and nails, that had vintage inspired nude half moons. The look was completed with a Roger Vivier clutch, also bright red, and classic, pin-up style hair and make up. Karlie Kloss looked beautiful in a strapless Oscar de la Renta gold lamé cloqué gown, finished with feather embroidery. The model also wore some elegant black leather gloves that matched her pointed black heels which peeked out from under the gown's heavy train. A soft and understated up-do with side-swept bangs completed the outfit. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley had a very different look for the red carpet, choosing a short and fierce Balmain dress and matching shoes. The piece was a mixture of leather, leopard print and gold, and was completed with oversized gold hoop earrings. The model's hair was straight and sleek, with a centre part. Blake Lively in Gucci was one of the best looks of the evening. Embodying old Hollywood glamour, the silk chiffon gown fit the actress like a glove, with a cascading train and soft mermaid silhouette. The dress was embroidered with glittering paillettes and Lively chose matching Gucci heels in a similar blush shade. Jewellery was by Lorraine Schwartz, and the actress had a soft pink shade of nail polish on with a glitter gradient, and voluminous side-swept waves. And finally, Australia's Kylie Minogue wore an ivory Marchesa gown with a plunging neckline and gold leaf accents. The singer's silk-tulle gown had a sweep train and was paired with Harry Winston jewellery and clutch. Completing the look was Minogue's hair in soft curls, with a bouffant.
